Path to Oshun is a 3D action exploration game about Sona, a young Black woman who searches for the river goddess Oshun. The game includes magic combat, stamina management, and exploration components. The player experiences themes of beauty, strength, and self-acceptance through the protagonist. Sona will fight her fears and insecurities in a metaphysical space inspired by landscapes and architecture in West Africa.

I enjoyed the team halfway through, after the core combat was finished. I led a team of 5 through the final stages of content creation, playtesting, and polish over the course of 3 month. My role included organizing the production schedule, editing the trailer & credits, promotional writing, capturing weekly gameplay demos for archives, and quality assurance.

Playtesting was very important to the core loop of the game, so I quickly established a 3-playtesters per week cadence. This meant cold emailing other game devs, professors, and students to schedule playtesting sessions. At the sessions, I led them through the gameplay with a script and encouraged players to think aloud and discuss their experiences. At the end of each week, I created a 1-page write-up of main takeaways and action items for the team. Towards the end of the project, I began focusing on Quality Assurance. I tested landscaping, combat, and general game mechanics. I assembled a spreadsheet with all bugs/issues, accompanied by videos & timestamps of where the issue occurred.
